Ryan A. Betts
Ryan is a passionate leader and educator with 13 years of experience in education. He began his career in Darien, CT, teaching fourth grade at Royle Elementary school. In 2015 Ryan joined the Westport team as an assistant principal at Saugatuck Elementary School. Ryan has worked diligently to serve and support the school community as a learning leader. He has lead efforts to build individual and team capacity; teamwork and relationships between students, families and staff; a culture of continuous improvement; and a whole-child learner-centered approach to school leadership. Throughout his career, Ryan has provided leadership in the areas of new teacher support, teacher evaluation, educational technology, professional learning communities, curriculum, instruction and assessment.
Ryan earned his Sixth-Year Diploma in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut. He earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a focus in Special Education from Fairfield University and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus in Elementary Education from Sacred Heart University. Ryan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business from Iona College.
Ryan is a true lifelong learner who is goal oriented and loves new challenges. In his free time he loves to spend time reading, playing golf and ice hockey, but most of all spending time with his wife, twin daughters, and family.
